How City Slickers Dress In The Cold
Much of the USA is feeling the coldest weather it’s seen in two years. When I recently stocked up on Uniqlo Heat Tech long underwear and socks for a ski trip to the Alps, I never imaged I’d ever wear this gear in NYC. Low and behold, here we are in 15 degree weather and I’m, admittedly, layering them under Malandrino leather pants, a cashmere turtleneck sweater plus a long wool cardi-vest. Add to that a shearling coat, fur hat, scarf and leather gloves — it’s the only way to get out from under the duvet in the morning and stay warm.
Our resident art director, Scott, wears not one but two wool coats, two scarves, an American Apparel thermal shirt, a thick wool hat & gloves.
Hannah demurely piles on a tank, a floral silk top, a 4-ply wool knit cardi-coat, an 8-foot chunky mega scarf, Patagonia ski socks, tall boots, a quilted wind-proof coat, and obligatory hat and gloves.
In Chicago, Rachel bundles up in, you guessed it, Uniqlo Heat Tech long undies, a puffy coat from Laundry, and a homemade infinity scarf from her grandma.
How are you staying warm in style this winter?
