red-golden-globes
twitter bird redHollywood award shows and Twitter are like peanut butter and chocolate. They just go so well together! You get all the social benefits of watching an award show with funny, snarky friends but you still get to see the show in the quiet of your own home so you can listen to rambling acceptance speeches of your choosing (and in your PJs).  If you haven’t yet gotten into Twitter, award shows are the best time to do it… especially now that you probably have a snazzy new tablet from the holidays.

The first red carpet glam parade of the season, the Golden Globes, was completely satisfying whether you have seen all the nominated films or not. On that subject, we’re partial to Zero Dark Thirty, Silver Linings Playbook, The Sessions and Les Miserables — mostly because we haven’t seen the others yet and those four were fantastic. And, now that we’ve watched the Golden Globes, we are curious to know what this Salmon Fishing in Yemen flick is all about and we’re still trying to comprehend Jodie Foster’s extended, stream-of-consciousness acceptance speech. However, the biggest winners of the night were, without a doubt, two of the best comediennes of our time: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Whatever bar was set for award show hosts, they’ve blown it away and won our hearts over and over again.

Of course, the red carpet is equally about the fashion and beauty. On that note, the trends were clear as day:

  • red lips and nude or pale golden nails
  • crimson dresses
  • plunging-to-the-waist necklines
  • romantic, loosely swept up hair or cascading silky waves to one side
  • high shine metal belts cinching the waist

Our favorite looks of the night: Kate Hudson, Jennifer Lawrence, Kerry Washington, and Amy Poehler’s first on-stage burgundy dress.
