In Celebration of 22 Years of RED PR…
- RED PR was founded on September 15, 2000 in New York City.
- That makes RED PR a Virgo, known for being practical, sensible, loyal, and industrious.
- Julia launched RED before she was 30. By that time, she’d worked at CBS News, PBS, Lippe Taylor and Vogue.
- We are named RED because it represents power, glamor, and commands attention.
- We’ve generated massive publicity for our clients, produced 100+ unforgettable events and have developed extraordinary contacts and connections in the industry.
- Long before WeWork existed, RED began its first year in a cool Soho loft shared with burgeoning dotcoms. We used landlines to pitch editors, sent faxes to clients, and snail mail to “blast” press releases. We made lots and lots of color copies. We still believe in Thank You notes.
- Before going virtual with the rest of the world, RED HQ was based in the heart of Soho.
- Julia Labaton, the founder of RED, and Charity Guzofski, the VP who joined 20 years ago bringing her years of fashion, operations and communications experience, have been friends since the first day of Ms. Kaminski’s kindergarten class at Orchard School in Ridgewood NJ.
- RED pioneered manicure trends on the runways in NY, Paris, London and Milan by incorporating nail art onto hundreds and hundreds of catwalks.
- RED PR is responsible for launching Shellac so successfully that demand initially exceeded supply and forever changed the manicure marketplace.
- Julia is fluent in French.
- Charity has a special connection to New Orleans (met her husband there) and returns yearly for Jazz Fest.
- Samantha is a former fitness trainer turned star media specialist and copywriter.
- Every holiday season RED sends red tins of homemade crispy, chocolate chip cookies to industry connections, friends, and family. That’s over 31,500 cookies!!!
- RED is a founding member of PR Boutiques International, an exclusive network of independent agencies around the world where Julia holds the title of VP.
- RED PR is a multi-award winning agency — 18 to be exact.
- PR News recognized Julia twice as a PR Woman of the Year
- In the days of The Observer’s niche power PR agency rankings, RED PR was consistently ranked in the nation’s top five specialty beauty PR firms.
- Charity loves the challenge of doing the NYTimes crossword puzzle on a daily basis and has recently added Wordle and Spelling Bee to that list.
- Julia is a huge animal lover, supporting New York animal rescue organization, Second Chance Rescue. She is a foster fail and mom to Juju (a red-nosed American Staffy).
- Both Julia and Charity are members of LIFTED… strengthening their bodies and their minds.
- Since our founding, we’ve expanded our services to include social media, influencer marketing, sponsored content, business advisory, and affiliate marketing. We continue to be at the forefront of the industry.
